VDOT is the single largest customer of the asphalt industry. More than four million tons of mix per year is provided for use on VDOT projects or to VDOT directly. Beyond this tonnage, VDOT specifications and guidelines impact most of the non-VDOT tonnage produced in the state. Considering VDOT’s impact, both directly and indirectly, it is important that industry understands the current and future direction of VDOT in terms of funding, planning, and metrics. Likewise, the industry can inform VDOT of the consequences of these directions – both positive and negative. Through open dialogue, this exchange of information can strengthen the partnership between each entity. On October 10th, VDOT Senior Leadership and FHWA Virginia Division Leadership will meet with VAA Members from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Hilton Richmond Downtown hotel to discuss transportation in Virginia. A combination of presentations and open discussion will be used to facilitate casual and open dialogue. Please note- this meeting is open to all members, so we strongly encourage you to attend and participate (questions and comments are welcome from all who attend). A copy of all presentations will be made available to members following the meeting. We have a small room block available at the Hilton for those considering staying overnight.
